Who is recommended a COVID-19 booster?
The recommendation depends on age and health. Under current ATAGI advice, adults aged 75 and over are recommended a dose every 6 months. Adults aged 65 to 74 without severe immunocompromise are recommended a dose every 12 months. Adults aged 18 to 64 with severe immunocompromise are recommended a dose every 12 months and are eligible for one every 6 months based on their situation. COVID-19 vaccination is recommended for all adults, and for children with medical conditions that raise their risk. Your pharmacist or doctor can tell you what fits your circumstances, and the government has an eligibility checker.
Can you walk in for a COVID-19 vaccine?
Many pharmacies offer walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations, and others prefer a booking. It is worth checking the pharmacy preference before you go, especially at busy times. Use the locator to find one near you and see whether it takes walk-ins or appointments.
Can you have your COVID-19 and flu vaccine together?
Yes. The Department of Health advises a COVID-19 vaccine and a flu vaccine can be given at the same visit, and a pharmacist can administer both.
How much does a COVID-19 vaccine cost?
COVID-19 vaccines are funded for eligible people. A pharmacy may charge a service fee, which varies, so check when you book.
